I had just started my divorce when I first read this quote in 2019.

Until then, I hadn’t realized how much of a people pleaser I was.

I THOUGHT I had been an independent and smart woman.

Not that these weren’t true at all, but there was a LOT of societal, cultural, familial expectations that I had submitted to in order to be “good” by external standards.

However, I hadn’t realized that obliging to those expectations and standards had come at the HUGE expense of abandoning myself, my needs, my health and my happiness.

And I finally had ENOUGH.

But my marriage ending was TERRIFYING and I officially felt like a “failure.”

There was a lot of pain, hurt, anger, sadness, and disappointment to navigate through in the next couple of years…

But do you know WHAT ELSE came with all of that?

It opened up SPACE to COURAGE, HEALING, and FREEDOM.

SO MUCH FREEDOM and POSSIBILITIES!

And with that came A NEW BEGINNING of advocating for myself, attending to my needs, and getting to know my TRUE self: All of my fears and insecurities, and also desires, hopes, dreams that ALSO opened up doors to more compassion, trust, love and alignment.

This very personal healing journey is also what has allowed me to connect with my clients at a whole NEW deeper level.

The things that were FUELING my clients’ struggles with food and body were also these very things of feeling unworthy, not “good enough,” unable to accept and love themselves just as they were and constantly needing to “prove” their worth through pleasing others, achieving more, and controlling food and their body!

And with all of this resonating with me deeply to my core, the space that I became to hold as a coach also completely transformed into a much deeper healing space as it became not just about their food and body, but about their whole BEING.
